How could I possibly not post a pic of my Uncle and Aunt's dog Katie - if you scroll down you should see her tribute to Easter. Katie just lost her brother Champ - such a sad day.
Not sure what we are doing for Canada Day as of yet. Last year we went to a huge celebration in Cloverdale where myself and Darren rode the "Zipper". I left that night with a very large goose egg on my forehead as I BASHED it on the cage during the ride - good times, lol.
My Etsy site was down for a couple of days but should be back up any second.
The weather has been spectacular and it was perfect for yard work this weekend. My friend Randy came over and put my lawnmower back together and TADA....it works. Wow my yard was looking a little too "crack-head" for me. Darren helped me lay down some landscape fabric in the front and the kids picked peas and not ripe cherries, lol. At this moment the tree looks like it is going to fall down with all the beautiful red babies up there. Mom is going to help pick some on Friday - I hope it won't be too late.
I believe I am going to fire up the torch and make some hollows so I can etch them!!
I have always been such a chicken S@#$@Tabout etching my hollows. Mostly I thought I would lose the beautiful wispy look and 2nd I thought it would be hard to clean the etching solution out of the middle of the bead. Well was I WRONG....now all I want to do is etch my hollows - look at the amazing "glow" they get! I have this beautiful plum set plus an olive and clear set up on Etsy today.
This morning Mom has come over to work in my yard (yes I have the BEST MOM EVER) plus look at the house for sale beside mine. The house is a bit smaller than mine but you can tell it was the same builder, lol. It needs a lot of updating but how cool would it be to have my Mom living right beside me.....I know many of you are saying "that's not cool" but if you knew how great me and Mom get along you would approve. Even more how GREAT would it be to have ME as a neighbour, ;>)
We are sticking around this weekend to work in the yard and pick cherries.....the rain has stopped and the sun is shining! My lawnmower will be fixed/put back together this weekend so the "field" shall be mowed and looking normal again - yew haw!
The cherries are here the cherries are here and I'm not kidding. I have two cherry trees that have a very large deck built around them. Lately it has been quite dangerous to sit out on the deck for fear of being hit in the head by a falling cherry (doesn't stop us tho). Both trees are so loaded with cherries this year that the branches are drooping down within reach... a first! I am planning on sending Darren up the tree like a little monkey to pick them!! lol
I am behind in shipping, posting and updating due to a house guest. Darren's Mom has been down all week and we have been visiting up a storm.....what at awesome lady! We have been up until the wee hours in the morning - talk - talk - talking. I taught her how to do muscle testing and she taught me how to see energy fields. We have been all over the place but now Donna is visiting her daughter (Michelle, lol) on Vancouver Island this week. She lives so far away!!
Last night I tried something that I have wanted to do for such a long time - glass bead caps! I have silver rivoted/cored a neat Beach Glass inspired piece on Etsy and then I will be listing the bead caps for sale (unless Mom gets her hands on them). I am also shipping this week.
By the looks of it I have been on a "beach glass" kick. I truly have to stop myself from throwing beads into the etching solution.
I have not graced you with an update because of the crazy schedule the past few days but here is the Reader's Digest version. Friday night the four of us (Darren, myself & the kidlets) headed down to the trailer for a fun-filled night of relaxing. We stopped at Fred Meyer's for our food and I had a craving for some Pinot Grigio from Barefoot Wineries. They had the small bottle but what good was that going to do...damnit....I wanted the BIG bottle. I found a big bottle of Mercato and thought I would give it a try - BIG MISTAKE...OMG....can you say SWEET. I don't mean like saaaweeeett in a good way but SUGAR SYRUP - blech...the bad way. I cut it with some fizzy juice..okay a bit better but then eureka I found the perfect combination....VODKA! Oh yes my drink combos have me scratching my head some days and I would have said "you are crazy" should this concoction be brought to my attention but it really was good, especially after a couple of glasses, lol. Saturday we chilled and walked around Whatcom Meadows and then it was back on the road again to Vancouver to pick up Darren's Mom at the Greyhound Depot. I believe I was up until after 1am visiting and then over to Mom's on Sunday night for a "family" dinner and then more visiting and up even later, LOL. Boy did I sleep like a log last night. On a side note.. why do they put bus depots in the crappy areas of town.....do they want to scare the tourists away????

I am home from the gym and manged to list two new sets on Etsy and one set on Ebay. I would have had much more made last night but I was interrupted by an animal in great distress. Something like a scene from the Alfred Hitchcock movie and I am not kidding. A fledgling crow came out of his nest and Jasper went after him. The parents crows did their best to ward off the cat but he was determined to get the youngster. Enter stage right the infamous Dr. Doolittle (aka ME) running after a bird that can't fly and a cat that thinks he can!! After a whirlwind of fur and feathers I manged to save the crow only to be dive-bombed by the parents who now think I am wanting to eat the little guy, whom we shall call Romeo from now on (YES I named him). I got Romeo safely into the house, into a wine box (imagine ME having an empty box of wine) and calmed down. Once he figured out I didn't want to hurt him he chilled out and I did some research on young crows. Turns out this is what they do....fall out of the nest and THEN learn how to fly - kinda bass-awkward if you ask me. I brought Jasper and the Muzz into the house and Romeo out onto the deck where he hopped back into the bushes. His parents are back and calling to him and he is answering back so I know he made it through the night. Jasper is sleeping on my bed but Muzzy is on the deck and I don't think Muzz will but him as they are about the same size and Muzz is lazy. Jasper was nice enough to let me know his disdain for me by crapping beside the litter box - jerk! Well I am off to the post box so if you ordered beads this past week they are roomin and a zoomin to you!
We are now in our 2nd week of June and temperatures are a bit back to normal - mid 20's is perfect for both indoor and outdoor work. The weekend was gorgeous and we spent one afternoon at the Abbotsford Flea Market. Picked up plants, hanging baskets, veggies and my FAV purchase of them all were the new shirts for Henrietta. In the pic Buzz and the kidlets are helping model the new gear - gotta love em!
Both the auctions I had on Ebay are gone but I shall try to put more up this week. Today I am shipping beads and cane and then plopping myself down behind the torch for some much needed "catch up"!
This weekend Darren's Mom (Donna) is catching a Greyhound and coming for a visit and there is lots to get ready before she gets here! It will be our first meeting and I am very excited, I know she will be great cause she has such a great son. I hope we get to bring her down to the trailer for some relaxation. Darren's parents owned a place down in Whatcom Meadows when he was a little kid and there are people still down there that know "the Hicks" from the good ol days. Stay tuned for Etsy and Ebay update tomorrow - I hope!!
Holy living Hell is it HOT out! How do you folks who live in the States where 98 degrees is the norm in the Summer! I picked 98 degrees F as that is the temperature on my deck right now.....at 5pm!! Too hot to torch so I just came in from watering the flowers and I am hoping to mow the lawn later tonight and THEN make some beads.
I went to the gym this morning, when it was still cool enough to sweat on your own, and I ran into a friend I have not seen in YEARS!!!! She just started at the gym so I am hoping we can work out together - better motivation.
I have a couple of new sets listed in my Etsy store today. These Silver Green Tornados are one of them and they are awesome. The 2nd set contains two nugget beads with my version of Kerri Fuhr's tapestry tutorial. I am pretty happy with how they turned out and they have been mixed with some great matching beads. I almost forgot there are two other sets of hollows I believe I listed last night - too hot for a clear thought at the moment, lol.
Summer be damned I am sticking to my Autumn colours, lol. Hey, it's not even Summer but here I am avoiding bright colours. I did list a set of berry inspired Sea Salt disks so there is my "colour" for the week. I have fallen in love with this new style of bead (new for me). The sugary coating gives them such a sparkle.
I hit the gym early and cleaned, photographed and listed beads both on Ebay and Etsy this morning. I am ready to fire up the torch before it gets too hot again - like last night - holy crap I was dying!! Much later tonight I will sneak over to Sebastian's and grab his lawn mower and give my grass a haircut. I think I will even have to water the flowers it's been that nice.
Both the kats are flopped inside. Jasper has found my large mound of clean laundry on the bed and the Muzz is laying right beside my chair on the hardwood waiting for me to finish my iced frappé so she can lick the glass.
Holy Hell is it warm out. All week has been forcasted to be 30-31 degrees C!! It is fabulous weather if you are not sitting behind a fairly warm torch making pretty beadies, lol. Make sure you check Etsy tomorrow for the beads I will be listing....totally new from me and I just pulled them out of the kiln and they are FABULOUS....well at least I think so.
This weekend we were back down at the trailer and this time the "Andys" joined us. You know you had a great weekend when you look down at your feet and can't figure out why your are missing nail polish on one of your toes. Upon further inspection you find your pinky toe nail missing!!! Not sure if it was during the game of horseshoes or watching the kids get motorcycle rides, or chillin' by the pool, or cooking dinner on an open fire......or maybe....just maybe it was when I was making the Strip Down and Go Naked drinks....yea......maybe that was when it happened ;>) I have put a pic of Sandy and Paige chillin and in the background you can see Randy giving Hayden a ride. I am very thankful I didn't fire up Sandy's bike after those drinks....heaven knows I would have come home with more injuries than I already have.
Right now I am sitting by the wide open French Doors trying to cool down. The raccoons were back the other night so I am watching to make sure they don't come into the house again. OMG speaking of adorable animals Darren and myself are grandparents yet again.....oh yes......those frisky Sea Monkeys were at it again and I see 9 little Monkeys scooting around in their enclosure. They are so freaking cute/ugly....you gotta love them. Now I hope the big ones don't eat this batch!!!
Friday is FINALLY here! I am just about to walk down to the post box and then I will be up to date on my shipping again - yea! I have listed a bunch of new items in my Etsy store and the pirate pictured is one of them. I had a "doh" moment the other night and could not figure out why I had not made a bandana out of my metallic glass - well here he is and I LOVE him! There is one in Gold and one in Bronze listed along with a gorgeous heart focal, and an even more gorgeous set of Raspberry hollows!
The weather is going to be stunning this weekend and I think my Sis and Randy are coming down to the trailer for a night. I have lots to get done before we take off...like sneak across to my neighbors yard and "borrow" the lawn mower again. I think it would only be fair for me to mow my own lawn as he has done it the last two times - what a neighbor!!! Sebastian has asked Darren to tune his drum kit for him so there will be a set of drums that much closer to my house now! Last year a car missed the corner and drove into Sebastian's front yard/house....I slept through that so I think him banging away on the drums won't keep me up either ;>)
The bead forums are a bit quite as everybody is off to Bead and Button in Milwaukee again. I went last year and had the pleasure of being locked in the building three times due to tornado warnings. All in all it was a good time but just not in the cards for me to attend this year - I need to focus on keeping up with you all!
Have a wonderful weekend - I am pretty sure we will, especially if Sandy comes down as I promised to make Strip Down and Go Naked - maybe this time I will stay out of the pool...or at least get changed into a bathing suit first ;>o
OH a quick movie update: Bride Wars - PAINFUL to watch. And what the hell happened to Anne Hatheway - eat something girl!!
Here we are, back at a Monday and surprisingly no worse for wear from the weekend. Saturday we drove to Pt. Roberts, a tiny peninsula of America on a tip of Canada??? to look at a vacation Cabin. It was a full car and Sandy and Randy (known as the Andys by Mom) rode their new motorcycle. What once was a thriving little area with rockin' sea side bars has become a ghost town - so sad but we enjoyed the trip. The rest of the weekend was spent in the yard and boy was progress made. Weed whacking & picking, gardening, landscaping, sweeping and raking were on the menu for Sunday and it looks so much better!
Update: the sty in my eye (did you sing that) was checked again by my Dr. who is now sending me to an "eye-guy" to have it cut out........aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh, I don't want to even think about it. Eye things totally FREAK me out. I will keep you posted - hey maybe I will get to wear a "pirate patch"! O Yar Baby!
I just posted a couple of crazy focals on Etsy. They were fun but very time consuming and my limit on a bead is happily 25 minutes but when they get past 35 minutes I start to panic. Not because I can't do it but because my attention span is somewhat of Cool Whip. Have a look, I didn't realize how hard it was to photograph silvered glasses!!
If I had a picture of the 1st rose of the season I would put that up but I don't so here is a pic of my 2nd moth. I really must update the Dog Blog more often, it just seems like the days are flying by. Tons have happened and here is the readers digest version: Yesterday was Darren's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!
Weekend down at the trailer was a great success. Took 4 loads of rotted wood and fence to the bin, played horse shoes (sucked), made/drank Strip Down & Go Naked, visited with trailer neighbors, ended up in the pool full clothed (might have had something to do with said drink), cooked over the fire and did a bit of relaxing.
I have had a small lump on my bottom eyelid and I do my best to try and ignore these things in hopes they just go away. Well I got a 2nd one but on the upper lid of the other eye...okay now they are bugging me! Yesterday afternoon the lower lump started to "hatch"........now I am FREAKING out thinking I have a larvae of something coming out of my eye so I book down to the Walk-in-Clinic. Dr. assures me it is not an insect version of the movie Alien and takes a pair of tweezers to it. The entire thing explodes all over my eyeball - blood - gunk and whatever else. He tells me I have a sty in my eye (sounds like a song)....gives me eye drops for both eyes and sends me home. From the time I left my house to the clinic and then back home it took 30 minutes. I have to go back on Monday to see if the 2nd sty needs to be "chopped out"...which totally freaks me out even more - I HATE eye things!
To end it all out a warm/fuzzy note I was driving home the other day when I noticed the car 2 lanes over from me was completed stopped on this 4 lane highway. I looked up and saw a mama duck with 5-6 fuzzy ducklings making their way across the VERY busy road. I slammed on my brakes and watched her lead them to the curb, up over and into the woods. Talk about an aaaaahhhh moment. It could have ended to badly and would have done some serious mental damage to me if anything were to happen to them. I have orders to catch up on and some shipping before partaking in the Friday night ritual of "hanging out" at Darren's and then off with Mom and family to Pt. Roberts to look at vacation cabins tomorrow. Have a great weekend and make sure you check out the new listing in my Etsy store!
It is a gorgeous Friday morning and I am sitting beside my French doors overlooking my deck....that is only half pressure-washed....guess what I am doing sometime today! At the moment I am enjoying my morning latte and excited to introduce my new Moth beads to you. I received a tutorial from Becky Mason on how to make butterflies....well mine look like moths and to be honest I believe a Moth is more my thang than a Butterfly. Now if only I could get crossbones on it!! I have listed 3 in my Etsy store along with a really cool set of Watercolour hollows. PITA to make but really pretty.
By the end of the day I should be caught up on shipping and hopefully with custom orders as well. If I am really lucky I will even manage to pull a few hundred weeds - oh boy, can't wait!!
I do have fantastic news....well fantastic for me. I have had a piece of glass stuck in my right hand's middle finger for over two years. I could always tell it was there when I held a glass rod or a pen. I poked, prodded, cut and basically abused the area trying to get the tiny piece of glass out. WELL......finally last week I attacked my finger so much it finally gave it up. I am now saving the tiny shard of glass for a very special bead, one which I will hang in a window as a remembrance of the annoyance lodged in that finger for over two years. Moral of the story (oh ya, gotta have one), never give up, no matter how much it hurts cause when "it" happens it will all be worth it. And now back to your regular program.................
OMG I have been without a modem for my internet for over a week! I am used to checking the computer every 20 minutes so this was a test and a half!
Loads of new sets in my Etsy store including the Powder Puff set to the left. I even gave making a butterfly a shot and I think I will make more this week - they were fun!
Lots has gone on....we had Mom's SURPRISE birthday party down at the Springs and it truly was a surprise. I had her fooled into thinking we were meeting the band Nickelback and she bought it hook line and sinker (yes that is how rock star I really am ;>). This past weekend was Mother's Day so we loaded up the Durango with Mom, Darren and kidlets and went 4X4ing up at Chehalis Lake. My sis and fiancé were up there camping and riding their dirt bikes so we all spent the day together. It was such a great weekend and just as we pulled into my driveway it started raining. We even managed a trip down to the trailer for a day/night of clean up. It was much better than we had thought. This weekend is the May Long weekend so we are heading back down for the HUGE BBQ that Whatcom Meadow hosts.
Today I will be catching up on shipping and answering a million emails so hang in there!!
Dog Blog: May 1, 2009 LINK to my Etsy Store Tornado Samplers PLUS 25% off SALE...check my Etsy for details
May already - well I had a crap start to the morning and have allowed myself to be in a crappy mood until 11:00am...after that NO MORE. So here I am back to normal and listing both EBAY and ETSY items. Thought I would give Ebay a shot again - hey why not! The Tornado Sampler is on Etsy and if you want a LARGE amount of Gold Shimmer Spacers check out my Ebay. It has a Buy It Now on it...I can't be bothered in getting into any kind of bidding wars....I set my price and you buy them - ta da - easy breezy!
Last night I finished the movie W. and I have to say that I enjoyed it. Josh Brolin does a fabulous job as the President! I have also finished the 4th Season of The Deadliest Catch - not sure how you can make that many seasons of the same thing. I did enjoy it as well and learned a lot about those crazy crabbers. I am happy to go sit on the end of a pier and throw a trap in....it's about the catch (and the beer) because I don't eat them. Next time we go crabbing we are going to go and buy a live lobster and tie him in the net. Won't everybody be surprised that we caught a lobster - especially when they are NOT from here - LOL.
Yeah - I have finally caught up on all my sleep and am back to normal again, should I be scared, lol. I have not made a bead with a press is what seems like forever until last night. I totally forgot how much I loved the nugget shape. The simplicity of the veiled cane with this sleek shape is awesome - simplicity at it's finest. I just put up 3 sets in my Etsy store but I think I will make more colours tonight.
The weekend was spent doing yard work and errands - nothing too spectacular - oh wait we did go to the car show over in Abbotsford. The first one of the year and I know there will be many more. Darren has been getting ideas for his '63 Nova.
I am really looking forward to this weekend. We have a wedding reception that I know will be a blast and then on Sunday we are heading down to the trailer at Whatcom Meadows. We have not been down there this year so I think yard clean up will be on the agenda, along with drinking some beer and sitting by the fire. If it is really nice out I am going to make my famous "strip down and go naked"........man this drink is amazing. You know those yummy drinks that go down so nice/fast and when you go to stand up - uh-oh - WHAM it hits you, lol. Whoever thought of mixing Vodka, Pink Lemonade and Beer together was a genius! I know you are saying eeewww, I did the first time I saw it being made. TRUST ME!
The day is close to over and I would love nothing more than to crawl into bed! I torched until after 10pm last night and am FINALLY caught up again or should I say for now. I had not gone grocery shopping and had nothing worth eating in the fridge so I peeked into the freezer. I had bought the kidlets onions rings (don't tell them, they think they are round French fries, lol) as a treat on the weekend and that was about it in there. So I ate some onion rings for dinner ....gross...but I did make a yummy peanut sauce to dip/disguise them. Now I get that whole "starving artist" quote, lol. I finally went shopping this afternoon and managed "breakfast" at 5:00PM. No wonder I am so tired!
I have a gorgeous new set up on Etsy today! Hollows and Tornados drenched in shimmer powder. I can see these in lime and turquoise but they will have to wait until tomorrow as I can barely keep my eyes open. To end my day on a high note I went outside, armed with a sprayer of Round Up......"say hello to my little friend"! I also ran into my neighbor Sebastian and asked him when he was going to mow his lawn to which he quickly replied "when are you going to mow yours!!!". I answered with a very smart ass reply "when you get YOUR lawn mower going". He'll get on it this weekend. He has also asked Darren to tune his drums so it sounds like a fun weekend - woo hoo!
Do I really need to explain this pic....well maybe I do. I know I have shown more family pics than beads but I really could not pass this one up. The weekend was jam packed with stuff but I think the three highlights are:
1. Planting the container garden while enjoying some ice cold ciders. Okay truth be told the kids planted the garden and we watched while enjoying the ice cold ciders.
2. The Canucks won game 3!
3. Spending Sunday with my family crabbing at Belcarra Park. We really did terrible but had a blast. Auntie Em got the only catch of the day so she donned the "crab glasses" and posed with her tiny crab. Check out the barnacles on him! Mom's crab trap got trashed by a seal but I think she was there to socialize more than anything.
I have a crazy week ahead of me and as soon as I post this I am heading to the shipping table to get todays packages out. I have lots of custom orders so I am not sure how many new items I will be coming up with. Sometime this week the grass MUST get mowed and truth be told I am waiting for my neighbour Sebastian to start up his mower so I can "borrow" it while he is at work, lol. His runs better than mine!
I hope all of you have come down from your chocolate highs!! I had a couple of mini eggs as I am not a big fan of chocolate.
Well the weekend proved to be as much fun as I thought it would be. Little Sis Sandy came out and we had a great time. She made some beads - we went for dinner - we had more drinks/shooter when we got home - we laughed and sang (not well I might add) and then went to bed. The following day we spent up in Harrison "rock picking" for her yard. It was a gorgeous day and the scenery was amazing. Now the shot I have chosen to show is of Sandy shimmying her ass into my open window as my "electronic keypad" decided to run out of battery juice AFTER I locked it. Thankfully I had left a window open (which I won't do again) and Sandy is little...she barely fit!
Sunday morning the kids hunted for eggs from the Easter Bunny around my house - I hope they got them all! The family got together for Easter dinner and it was sooooooooo yummy - can't beat homemade Chinese food - thanks Mama! That evening the skies cleared up and Monday was spent walking around Mill Lake Park. Within one hour of us getting home the skies opened up and hail/snow/ice fell and covered the yard - too weird! All gone now and the lawn totally needs mowing!
This morning I have listed another Attila the Bun in my Etsy store along with some bronze/topaz glass spacers and Torpedoes. I have made one trip to the post box so far with another this afternoon and then onto the torch....but first breakfast which will consist of a piece of carrot cake with cream cheese icing (I made it)...too bad it will make me sick in a few hours :>(
Well what a better way to announce that Spring is hopping into our lives than a picture of my Uncle and Aunt's dog Katie. She is just the sweetest dog ever and one I would allow into my house anytime (not a fan of big dogs in the house kinda girl). I was pretty impressed that I had tulips, daffodils and sprigs of my peach tree in a vase on the fireplace. I received this pic this morning and now I have been put to shame :>(
As you all know this pending weekend is the Easter long weekend. We are all getting together at Mom's on Sunday for homemade Chinese food. A long time ago Mom took a cooking class with famous Chinese chef from the show "Wok with Yan". She makes the BEST chowmein and little garlic ribs - damn I am hungry now!
Last night we finished the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons and we both really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we only got into about 45 mins of The Day the Earth Stood Still. It stood so still we feel asleep and didn't finish it. Not sure if we will continue to the end or just put a big "PASS" stamp on it.
Check out my Etsy Store for a few more additions but that will be it until Saturday as Lil Sis Sandy is coming out this afternoon. I am going to teach her how to make beads - FINALLY! She is extremely talented as an artist so I am dying to see what she does in this medium. From there we are off to my fav restaurant and that reminds me I need to pick up the ingredients for Apple Pie shooters for later - yee haw - it's gonna be a fun night!!
Holy E-ffing hell is it ever nice out there! It is like we skipped Spring and leapt into Summer. It probably will jump back to Spring in a few days so I will get the most out of this weather now. Darren attacked the front hedges this weekend and the kids did a great job of helping clean up all the hedge carnage. Next on the "landscaping list" (and it is a big one this year) is relocate the garden shed entirely across the yard. I had put it behind the house but we can't get a wheelbarrow by it and a bunch of gravel needs to get back there and I am kinda figuring that asking Darren to carry it in a big bucket is out of the question. lol After that teeny tiny job the real fun begins...pond - gas fire pit - pergola and seating are going in the back and sprucing up will carry on in the front.
I have listed a set of Mayan Sea Salt disks on Etsy today. I had made a custom set of these disks and was on a roll. I tend to "over make" things and then never make them again, lol.
On Thursday I get my little sis Sandy for a whole day/night. We are going to spend a day gathering large rocks/boulders up at Harrison Hot Springs for her yard and then I will be taking her out for her birthday to my fav restaurant - Lous. My goal is to have a great sister-bonding night .... and get her bladdered, ;>) Tee Hee the chicken can barely wait!
As I type this I am looking out at the ever growing lawn (talented aren't I) and wondering if I will ever have the chance to mow the damn thing. The Lower Mainland got hit with snow again yesterday. I didn't get any at my house but Mom did and so did Darren. What the HELL is going on - I am ready for Spring and I just can't do that when white stuff is a-flyin'. There is an outside concert I wanted to take Mom to tomorrow night at the drag strip but I say "forget it!" We have seen the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band before and I don't want to risk frozen appendages for them - sorry Mama.
I was going through some "orphaned" beads and put together this darling little set called Princess Candy. It was going to be named Cotton Candy but it was just too princessie so I blended the two names - on Etsy.
I need to get outside and move my truck out of the driveway for fear of being trapped by the ever looming road crew. The City has been putting in fiber optic cable on our road and they are finally at the edge of my property. They have cut my asphalt driveway and are going to dig a trench - NOT IMPRESSED. Screw progress if you have to cut up my driveway!!
It is official I am seriously considering changing my vocation from lamp worker to face painter ;>) I survived Hayden's b-day party and had a great time doing it. I think I painted around 11-12 little faces...everything from Spidy (Hayden) to a Tiger, Pirate, Butterfly and pretty flowers. From this party we headed home to catch an hours worth of sleep because only two hours were had the night before and then on to Auntie Em's deck. What a great turn out and what great food! As I was the driver I kept it pretty mellow but a couple of cousins let loose and really tied one on - quite entertaining. I forgot my purse there so myself, Darren and the kidlets made the trek back to Auntie's and ended up staying all afternoon - what a gorgeous day!
Unfortunately we are back to rain today but I get more done when it rains. Up early and then to the gym/tan followed by a latte (they're healthy right) and I have been in the studio ever since. All of the shipping should be up to date by tomorrow afternoon and then on to catch up on custom orders and maybe, just maybe make something new for Etsy...stay tuned!!
This weekend we caught up on Lost and it was a pretty good one - can't wait to find out what repercussions there are to shooting Ben!! Most of the time I need this show explained to me like I am 3! Also watched the movie In Bruges - I enjoyed it and would recommend it to certain people. I was really looking forward to watching Bolt but it was too late by the time we got home last night and the kids had to go to bed :>( Pretty excited about Monsters vs. Aliens too!
Hello from the glorious West Coast of Canada. I only say this as the rest of the country is getting nailed with snow - ha! It might rain today but so far the weather has been absolutely stellar all week - keep it coming!!
A couple of days ago I made the mistake of downloading Google Earth yet again. I think I have looked up half the world so far including most places I have lived. It is weird to see the house I am in now without a deck on it. I believe the pic taken was from 2004. For those who don't know about Google Earth have a little looky poo and see what it is all about. Anyways I have listed 3 focals on Etsy that were inspired by my "world surfing" as well as this sweet little fuchsia and black set. Rocker Chick is a set for the defiant girlie out there. If you are wearing this set it pretty much means "get the hell out of my way cause I mean business", ;>)
This weekend is cram packed with family goodness - which only means one thing - WINE! Somehow I will have to work my wine into a coffee cup for Hayden's big birthday party (joking) as I am doing face painting. Sorry, did you fall off your chair....hope it didn't hurt too much. I KNOW...me....face painting....children, LOL. I believe there will be 20 kids at his party and I am not sure if I should take a Valium or opt for something stronger. Darren has rented a school gymnasium and so far I know there will be pizza which means I will probably bring sushi to go with my wine ;>) Saturday night I have cousins flying in for a 24 hour family visit and so that evening will be spent on Auntie M's deck with about 25 Dussault family members - OMG we have so much fun! Wish me luck!! I know I will have lots of pics to show.
Well another weekend is now under my belt and because of Hayden's ice cream cake the belt is a bit tighter ;>). Yes it was Hayden's 4th birthday (well actually it is today) party at Mom's yesterday and we had a big family picnic. I made homemade hamburgers right down to the buns, potato salad, yam fries and Sandy brought a cucumber and avocado salad. Grabbing a bucket of KFC and a six pack is just fine but nothing beats a totally home made picnic! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAYDEN!
Friday night I hit a couple of local spots to visit with some friends as Darren was downtown. I just could not bring myself to heading into the city and then driving all the way home and after hearing everything that happened to them I am so glad I stayed local!! So I have a question for ya - if I can sit and have great conversations with a couple of 23 year old girlies does that make me "young at heart" or "immature". If nothing else I feel like I passed on the "revenge torch" as I revealed some of my secrets of things to do to others who try and screw you, lol. Don't worry it is pretty hard to get on my bad side - actually very hard so I only pull out the revenge tactics on very special people.
Pictured are some Ocean blue Tornados covered in silver shimmer - OMG I love these beads. The ridges in the Tornados create great pockets to hold extra shimmer and make these beads really stand out. There are also a few more items I added to Etsy on Saturday morning and I plan on torching again today after I get my shipping taken care of.
